Matchweek 3 action kicked off with a Wednesday doubleheader featuring Real Monarchs taking on MNUFC2 at home and Chattanooga FC making the trip to Belson Stadium to face off against NYCFC II.

Real Monarchs bounced back from a Matchweek 2 loss to Whitecaps FC 2 with a 2-1 victory over MNUFC2. Despite facing an early red card, MNUFC2 fought valiantly by scoring the opening goal of the match in the 21st minute.

Carlos Harvey earned an assist off a perfectly lofted lead pass to Loïc Mesanvi, who slotted it home to give the vistors the lead.

Real Monarchs' forward Zavier Gozo dealt a decisive blow to MNUFC2's hopes of a road victory, finding the net twice in his 65 minutes on the field to give his side the three points.

NYCFC II (1) - Chattanooga FC (1) - NYCFC II win 4-2 in shootout

NYCFC II hosted a Chattanooga FC team that was eager to build on a Matchweek 2 win that earned them their first ever MLS NEXT Pro win and shutout.

After falling behind early to a Taylor Gray header, NYCFC II responded in the second half to thanks to a Jonathan Shore equalizer that sent the game to a shootout. Alex Rando stepped up a during the shootout, denying a Callum Watson kick from the mark that allowed Ronald Arévalo to seal the deal and give his team the extra point at home.
