Huntsville City Football Club to Conclude Regular Season Against Chicago Fire II at Joe Davis Stadium at 1 P.M. CT on Sunday

Huntsville, Ala. (Sept. 22, 2023)– Huntsville City Football Club will look to clinch the first playoff berth in club history on Sunday, Sept. 24 when it takes on Chicago Fire II at 1 p.m. CT at the Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. To clinch a playoff berth, Huntsville must win in regulation, Philadelphia Union II must lose in regulation, and New York City FC II must lose in regulation or in a shootout. Tickets for the match, which will also celebrate Fan Appreciation Day, can be purchased here.    

Before kickoff, representatives from Huntsville City FC, MLS NEXT Pro President and MLS EVP Charles Altchek, City of Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, and distinguished officials from NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center will unveil a J-2X NASA Rocket Engine being housed at the Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. The engine is the only NASA rocket engine test article of its kind currently on long-term display at a professional sports venue.

Earlier today, Huntsville City FC Head Coach Jack Collison and forward Azaad Liadi previewed the match against Chicago Fire II, discussing the team’s energy in the final week of the regular season, what challenges Chicago present, the desire to be more offensive in this matchup, and their favorite moments from Huntsville City FC’s inaugural season. Liadi also discussed winning two team awards and what that means to him.

For Fan Appreciation Day, the first 1,000 fans at the Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium on Sunday will receive a team photo, and at the team store, hats, scarves, and the home kit will be 25% off. After the game, fans will get a chance to get autographs from the players as a thank you for the best home environment in MLS NEXT Pro.  

HCFC honors community members and organizations making a difference in our city at every home match. This Sunday, Section 256, a special section in the stadium dedicated to celebrating our community, will host students from the Just Keep Livin Program at Lee High School, a program dedicated to empowering high school students by providing them with the tools to lead active lives and make healthy choices for a better future. Manna House Director Fran Fluhler will be honored as the Hero of the Match, as Veteran Lieutenant Colonel Paul Keil of the U.S. Army will serve as this week’s Landers McLarty Chevrolet Military Salute.
