Huntsville City FC Falls 6-2 to Atlanta United 2 Saturday Night

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (May 16, 2026) - Huntsville City FC fell 6–2 to Atlanta United 2 on Saturday night at Wicks Family Field in the second meeting between the two sides this season. Atlanta United 2 also claimed the first matchup earlier this year with a 4–1 result. 

Huntsville City FC opened the scoring early in the first half as captain Leo Christiano found the back of the net in the 18th minute to give the Boys in Blue a 1–0 advantage. Huntsville continued to create chances throughout the opening half and doubled the lead in the 41st minute when Julian Gaines added a second goal to make it 2–0 before halftime. 

Just before the break, Huntsville City FC was reduced to 10 men after Maximus Ekk received a red card, shifting momentum heading into the second half. 

Atlanta United 2 came out aggressively after halftime and mounted a strong offensive push, scoring six second-half goals, including multiple late finishes during seven minutes of stoppage time, to complete the comeback victory. 

Huntsville City FC faced another setback in the closing stages of the match when Moises Veliz was issued a red card in the 80th minute, leaving the Boys in Blue with nine players to finish the match. 

Huntsville City FC now turns its attention to the road as the Boys in Blue travel to face Chicago Fire II on Saturday, May 23 at 3 p.m. CT.
