Huntsville City Football Club Earns Two Points on the Road Following Shootout Win over Chicago Fire II

Bridgeview, IL (May 12, 2023) – Huntsville City Football Club picked up two points following a penalty shootout win over Chicago Fire II Friday night at SeatGeek Stadium. After the match finished 1-1 in regulation, Huntsville secured the extra point by winning the penalty kick shootout 4-1.

Huntsville got on the board first on the last kick of the first half, when midfielder Isaiah Johnston converted a penalty after teammate Chris N’Sa was taken down in the box. This marked Johnston’s first goal for the club.

Chicago got an equalizer early in the second half after a foul on a corner kick led to a penalty, which the Fire converted.

After regulation finished 1-1, Huntsville would secure the extra point after winning the shootout 4-1, with Isaiah Johnston making the winning penalty and goalkeeper John Berner making a crucial save in his Huntsville City FC debut.

After the match Head Coach Jack Collison and midfielder Isaiah Johnston addressed the team’s performance on the night, the character the team showed, and the momentum the result builds ahead of the team’s home opener. Coach Collison also discussed the team’s process, and the performance of goalie John Berner.

Huntsville City FC will finally get to play in front of its home fans next week as the team hosts its first game at Joe Davis Stadium against Crown Legacy at 7 p.m. CT. Tickets for the historic match can be purchased here.
