Yellowhammer Brewing Preview: Huntsville City FC to Host Crown Legacy FC Saturday at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium at 7 p.m. CT

Huntsville, Ala. (April 11, 2024) – Huntsville City FC will play the first of two-straight home matches on Saturday, April 13 at 7 p.m. CT against Crown Legacy FC at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. Saturday’s match theme is First Responders Night, and tickets are available here

Here are five things to know about the match, airing live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

  1. HCFC Interim Head Coach Christophe Berra will manage the Boys in Blue for the first time on Saturday against Crown Legacy. Berra brings a wealth of soccer experience, including more than 560 appearances in the Scottish and English Premier Leagues and 41 caps for the Scottish National Team. Berra transitioned into coaching in 2022, serving as a first-team coach for Livingston FC in the Scottish Premiership before joining Huntsville as an assistant prior to the 2024 season.
  1. The first-ever match at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium was played between Huntsville City FC and Crown Legacy FC, a 2-1 victory for the Boys in Blue in front of a sellout crowd on May 19, 2023. After falling behind early, Jony Bolaños equalized for Huntsville in the 40th minute before Azaad Liadi scored the winner in the 70th.
  1. The Boys in Blue boast one of the youngest rosters in MLS NEXT Pro, with 10 players aged 20 or younger having appeared for the club already this season: goalkeeper Jacob Grekowicz, defenders Chris Applewhite, Scott Cheevers, and Fernando Ciceron, midfielders Isaiah Jones, Sergi Oriol, Alejandro Velazquez-Lopez, and Dominic Wilson, and forwards Maximus Ekk and Adem Sipić.
  1. Heading into Saturday’s match, 10 Boys in Blue have appeared in every game this season: defenders Scott Cheevers, Fernando Ciceron, and Joel Sangwa, midfielders Jony Bolaños, Brennan Creek, Izzy Johnston, Isaiah Jones, and Ollie Wright, and forwards Maximus Ekk and Adem Sipić. 
  1. Saturday’s match at the Joe will celebrate First Responders. Outside of Gate Two, attendees can see a sampling of vehicles first responders use on the job, and after the game first responders and their families can run across the Wicks Family Field pitch. Additionally, nurses Elizabeth Schwarze and Ashley Noles will be recognized as this week’s Coca-Cola Heroes of the Match.
