HUNTSVILLE CITY FC FALLS TO CHICAGO FIRE II SATURDAY NIGHT

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (April 11, 2026) - Huntsville City FC battled through a scoreless 90 minutes but ultimately fell to Chicago Fire II in a penalty shootout Saturday night in the first meeting between the two clubs during the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro regular season. 

The match remained tightly contested from the opening whistle, with both sides holding firm defensively. The first half ended 0-0 with no stoppage time added, as neither team was able to break through. 

The second half followed a similar script, with limited chances and strong defensive efforts on both ends. After four minutes of stoppage time, the match remained deadlocked, sending the contest to a penalty shootout to determinethe winner. 

In the shootout, Huntsville City FC converted two attempts, but Chicago Fire II proved clinical from the spot, scoring four times to secure the two points.  

Huntsville City FC returns home on May 7 for a 7 p.m. CT kickoff against Carolina Core FC, opening an action-packed stretch of matches in May.
