HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (July 5, 2026) – Huntsville City FC claimed two points Sunday night at Wicks Family Field, defeating Chicago Fire FC II in a penalty shootout after the two sides played to a 2-2 draw through regulation.
The result marked the third meeting between the clubs this season. Chicago earned a penalty shootout victory in the first matchup and then took a 4-0 win on the road.
Huntsville opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Misei Yoshizawa found the back of the net to give the Boys in Blue an early 1-0 advantage.
Chicago answered quickly, leveling the match in the 31st minute as the teams entered halftime tied at 1-1.
The visitors took their first lead of the night shortly after the break with a goal in the 48th minute, but Huntsville responded in spectacular fashion. Ángel Iñiguez struck from long range to even the match at 2-2 and ignite the home crowd.
With neither side able to find a winner in regulation, the match moved to a penalty shootout. Goalkeeper Will Mackay delivered in the decisive moments, coming up with key saves to help Huntsville secure the shootout victory and earn two points.
Huntsville City FC looks to take home three points when the Boys in Blue travel to face Philadelphia Union II on July 12th.
