Match Recap: CT United FC vs Chattanooga FC

CT United FC Falls 4-2 to Chattanooga FC in Road Battle

Chattanooga, Tenn. (March 8, 2026) — CT United FC suffered its first defeat in club history, falling 4–2 to Chattanooga FC at Finley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Competing in just its second-ever MLS NEXT Pro match, CT United opened the scoring in the 21st minute following a well-worked sequence of passes. Andre Applewhaite’s pass deflected into the path of Ibrahim Kasule, who reacted quickly to volley in the opener.

The visitors’ lead was short-lived. Just 90 seconds later, Tate Robertson slid an equalizer past CT United goalkeeper Anthony Ramos from the left side of the box to level the match.

Chattanooga continued to apply pressure following the goal, forcing Ramos into a pair of impressive saves to keep the score even.

The home side eventually broke through in the 37th minute when a CT United giveaway left Alex McGrath in on goal for a breakaway finish past Ramos to give Chattanooga a 2–1 lead. Alexander Krehl extended the advantage just four minutes later, finishing from a tight angle on the right side of the box in the 41st minute.

Despite the deficit, CT United nearly pulled one back before halftime. Andre Applewhaite and Alex Monis narrowly missed connecting in the box, and Kasule pushed an effort just wide as the visitors searched for a late first-half goal.

CT United controlled 57 percent of possession in the opening half, but Chattanooga’s clinical finishing gave the hosts a 3–1 lead at the break.

Early in the second half, Chattanooga looked poised to extend its lead after drawing a penalty kick. Ramos had other plans, diving to his right to make a strong save and keep CT United within reach.

The momentum was short-lived, however, as Krehl headed home a Robertson corner in the 57th minute to make it 4–1.

CT United continued to push forward and found a moment of quality in the 74th minute. Dylan Lacy curled a highlight-reel strike from just outside the box into the far corner, with Daniel D’Ippolito credited with the assist.

While the result did not go CT United’s way, the club showed resilience throughout the match, controlling possession and outshooting Chattanooga 16–12. The Coywolves will look to bounce back next week on the road against Philadelphia Union II.
