It’s been quite a week for Red Bulls II forward Rafael Mosquera.
Fresh off earning MLS NEXT Pro Player of Matchweek 25 honors, the 20-year-old has now added the Goal of Matchweek 25 award to his cabinet.
The Panamanian international’s goal took place in the 42nd minute of their match against Columbus Crew 2, curling a ball into the bottom left corner after a set up from teammate Nate Worth near the top of the box.
Mosquera has been a force all season for RBNY II, scoring seven goals and providing 10 assists, tied with Chicago Fire II’s Claudio Cassano for the top spot in MLS NEXT Pro.
Other Goal of Matchweek 25 nominees included Brayan Sandoval (Real Monarchs), Copper Sanchez (Atlanta United 2), and Decarlo Guerra (LAFC2).
After their 7-4 win over Columbus Crew 2, Red Bulls II sit atop the Eastern Conference with 51 points, holding a five-point lead with four matches remaining.
Next up, they'll hit the road to face Huntsville City FC in a matchup that could double as a playoff preview on September 13 at 8PM ET.
