After an electrifying performance in front of a jam packed CITYPARK, St Louis CITY2 has earned Team of Matchday 20 honors. CITY2 put on an offensive show, defeating Real Monarchs by 4-0 last Sunday to win the award.

Sunday’s win marked the second consecutive victory for Bobby Murphy’s side and put CITY2 just one point away from the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

From the opening whistle, CITY2’s offensive firepower was on full display, launching multiple shots on goal that were denied by the Real Monarchs goalkeeper.

The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when midfielder Selmir Pidro floated a cross into the Real Monarchs box where John Klein was able to head the cross into the back of the net, giving CITY2 the lead.

CITY2’s attack continued as midfielder Max Schneider and defender Joakim Nilsson combined for a header off a corner kick, doubling the home side’s advantage as the game entered halftime.

The second half mirrored the first 45 minutes, with CITY2 continuing their relentless attack.

John Klein scored his second goal of the night, and his ninth goal of the season, after capitalizing on a loose ball after free kick in the 63rd minute.

Near the end of the game, Wan Kuzain scored his fourth goal of the campaign after knocking in a rebound off a deflected shot in the box, giving St Louis CITY2 their fourth goal of the game.

Real Monarchs mounted a late comeback effort, but CITY2's solid defense kept the visiting side scoreless. With the result, CITY2 goalkeeper Eric Walker secured his second clean sheet this season.

After earning the three points against Real Monarchs, St Louis CITY2 will look to earn their third consecutive victory when they travel to face MNUFC2 on August 13th.
