Team of Matchday 3 (Revs II)

New England Revolution II closed Matchday 3 with Monday’s 5-1 win over Philadelphia Union II, continuing an undefeated to start the 2023 season. Revs II, one of four undefeated teams after three games, leads the league in scoring with 10 goals.

Five different players scored in Monday’s win, with Jordan Adebayo-Smith and Damian Rivera delivering standout performances with a goal and assist for each of them.

Union II opened the scoring with a penalty kick converted in the 10th minute. However, Rivera evened things up 11 minutes later.

Jordan Adebayo-Smith ensured Revs II would head into halftime up 2-1. Adebayo-Smith raced past three defenders to get on the end of a long pass from Jacob Akanyarige, then slotted it home.

Revs II gained momentum early in the second half, with Esmir Bajraktarevic scoring in the 49th minute. Malcolm Fry showed off his skill in moving past a defender to create space for a shot and scored in the 54th minute.

Finally, Brandonn Bueno made an instant impact as a substitute in the 84th minute. Bueno stepped up to take a penalty five minutes later. He buried the spot kick into the lower right of the goal.

Revs II piled on the pressure and took their chances, with nine shots on goal. Bajraktarevic stayed active with seven shots, three shots on goal and two key passes. Goalkeeper Nico Campuzano had three saves.
