Austin FC II continued a strong start to the 2023 season with two wins, five goals scored, and no goals conceded across two matches this week. Wednesday’s 3-0 win over North Texas SC brought things to a positive start, and Austin FC II topped the week off with Sunday’s 2-0 triumph over St Louis CITY2.
ATXFC II, named Team of Matchday 4, finishes the week on top of the Western Conference table, tied for the fewest goals allowed with three and tied for the most scored in the conference with 10. The club started 2023 with four wins from their first five games.
This week, excellent defensive showings in each match set the table for ATX FC II to overpower its opponents in the attacking third.
Goalkeeper Damian Las made nine saves across two clean-sheet showings, while center-backs Kipp Keller and Salvatore Mazzaferro formed a successful partnership as each went 90 minutes in both games.
Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez supplied two assists in Sunday’s win over CITY2, first feeding David Rodriguez for a sweet finish in the 66th minute. Micah Burton sealed the win in the 88th minute with a strong finish into the lower right corner. The goal was the 17-year-old Burton’s first professional goal.
Valentin Noël emerged as ATXFC II’s top scorer in 2023, with two goals against North Texas SC. ATXFC II scored three goals in five minutes in that match, with Ocampo-Chavez adding a third goal in the 13th minute – one minute after Noel’s second goal.
Six points over Matchday 4 shows ATXFC II’s strength on both sides of the field. ATXFC II remains perfect at Parmer Field, with nine goals through four home games.
