FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (October 18, 2023) – The New England Revolution have signed 18-year-old Revolution II forward Malcolm Fry to a first-team contract as a Homegrown Player beginning in 2024 through the 2026 Major League Soccer season, with an additional one-year club option for 2027. A native of Groton, Mass., the Revolution Academy graduate becomes the 13th Homegrown Player signing to join the Revolution’s MLS roster, and the eighth player to ascend from the Revolution II roster to the first team.

Including the 2023 postseason, Fry has recorded 37 appearances with Revolution II in MLS NEXT Pro with six goals and three assists since signing his first professional contract with New England’s second team on Oct. 28, 2022. The Massachusetts product made his professional debut on March 27, 2022 and totaled one goal across eight appearances in his debut season with Revolution II. This season, he recorded four goals in the regular season before adding another tally in the conference semifinal round of the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs.

“Malcolm has excelled at every level of our pro player pathway and his consistently strong performance with our second team put him in the position to make this next step in his career,” Revolution Technical Director Curt Onalfo said. “Malcolm has a bright future, and we are thrilled to watch him continue his career with his hometown club and earn his place in the first team beginning next season.”

Fry joined the Revolution Academy in 2019 and played a pivotal role for the Under-19s en route to the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup. He tallied the game-winning goal in the regular season finale to send the squad to the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs. The forward went on to notch three goals in the postseason tournament, helping New England secure its first of two consecutive U-19 national titles.

Fry becomes the 13th player to sign with New England as a Homegrown Player on a first-team contract with the Revolution and is one of eight players to sign a first team deal after initially signing with Revolution II. Fry is one of three teenage Homegrowns set to join the first team in 2024, along with 15-year-old Peyton Miller and 18-year-old Santiago Suarez. They will join a talented crop of Homegrown Players already featuring for New England: Esmir Bajraktarević (18), Noel Buck (18), Jack Panayotou (19), Justin Rennicks, and Damian Rivera.

“I am honored to begin my MLS career and continue growing as a player here in New England with my hometown club,” Fry said. “I have benefited from the new challenges at every level as I moved up the pro pathway from the academy to the second team, and thanks to all my coaches over the years, I now feel ready to test myself at the MLS level. I look forward to earning my place in the team next season.”

New England will conclude the regular season at home on Saturday night, October 21, on MLS Decision Day presented by AT&T against the Philadelphia Union at Gillette Stadium. All Eastern Conference fixtures on Decision Day are scheduled to kick off at 6:00 p.m. ET.
