Raimbault's First-Half Strike Lifts Carolina Core FC Past Huntsville City FC

High Point, NC (June 28, 2026) - The Core earned all three points at Truist Point Stadium with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Huntsville City FC on Sunday evening.

Both teams opened the match on even footing, with neither side able to establish an early advantage. The opening minutes were tightly contested as the two sides matched each other in possession and attacking opportunities. Two early saves from Nick Holliday kept the match scoreless while the Core weathered Huntsville's early pressure. At the other end, the Foxes looked dangerous from the opening whistle, creating several opportunities inside the box as they searched for the breakthrough.

As the first half progressed, the Core began to take control of the match, generating a string of quality chances in front of goal. Antonio Pineda nearly opened the scoring on a quick breakaway before the rebound fell to Arnaud Tattevin, whose effort forced another strong save from Huntsville goalkeeper Will Mackay.

The Foxes continued to dictate play for much of the opening half, applying sustained pressure in the attacking third. Their persistence paid off in the 43rd minute when Andrew Czech found Thomas Raimbault inside the box. Raimbault calmly slid a low finish past Mackay to give Carolina Core FC a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Core carried that momentum into the second half, maintaining possession in the attacking half while preventing Huntsville from settling into the match. Aggressive defensive pressure limited the visitors' opportunities and kept the Foxes in control. Corey Lundeen raced onto a perfectly weighted through ball before drawing a foul just outside the penalty area in a dangerous position. On the ensuing free kick, Jair Caiza nearly doubled the advantage, curling his effort around the wall and toward the back post, only for Mackay to make another impressive save.

The Foxes remained composed throughout the closing stages, managing the match effectively despite inclement weather that briefly delayed the conclusion of the contest. Strong defensive organization and confident possession in the final minutes allowed the Core to preserve the clean sheet and secure a 1-0 victory at Truist Point Stadium.

Carolina Core FC returns to action on Saturday, July 5, traveling to face Connecticut United. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
