Rochester New York Football Club Head Coach Bruno Baltazar has identified Loyola Marymount University left back Christian Wood as just such a player.
“In Christian we are signing an energetic and offensive minded left back with great pace and quality left foot. He can be a big offensive threat on the left side.”
Wood is a six-foot-one-inch defender from Corona, California earned All-Conference and All-Region honors during his collegiate career in addition to being named the Conference Defender of the Year. In his final collegiate season he tied for the Lions team lead in assists.
Wood is looking forward to joining Rochester New York Football club in training camp later this month.
“I'm so excited to be a part of this club. I feel blessed for this to be my first step as a professional player. I was drawn to RNYFC because of the community involvement around the club, reputation of the staff they have brought in, and a place with such a history. Can't wait to get started.”
RNY FC Sporting Director Dr. Lee Tucker sees Wood as a key player in his blueprint for building an exciting, high paced, attacking team in 2022.

Tucker and Baltazar have added another piece to their attacking puzzle in 2022.
Rochester New York Football Club has signed Left Back Christian Wood to an MLS NEXT Pro PROFESSIONAL contract, pending league and U.S. Soccer Federation approval. Financial terms were not disclosed.
