HIGH POINT, N.C. (April 16, 2024) - Carolina Core FC today announce the acquisition of midfielder Ozzie Cisneros on loan from Sporting KC of Major League Soccer for the entirety of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season.

Cisneros joined Sporting in 2021 as a Homegrown Player after developing in the Sporting KC Academy. The versatile midfielder has made two appearances for the first team, starting in a Leagues Cup match against LIGA MX side Club Leon in August 2021 and helping SKC to a 4-2 extra-time victory over FC Dallas in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32.

A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Cisneros has scored five goals in 52 professional matches for Sporting KC II since debuting for the club in May 2021. The 2023 campaign saw Cisneros hit career-highs in appearances (26) goals (three) and assists (two) for a Sporting KC II outfit that reached the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs.

“Ozzie joins us from Sporting KC, as a player that started in their MLS NEXT Academy and earned a first team contract,” said Chief Sporting Officer Eddie Pope. “With so much experience, we look forward to him helping us in the midfield, mainly as a number 10. We like the way he connects the defensive side of the game to the attacking side. He's good with the ball at his feet and has a knack for picking out the right pass.”

Prior to turning professional as a 16-year-old in 2021, Cisneros represented the Sporting KC Academy at the U-13 through U-19 levels. His five-year stint in the academy was highlighted by a call-up to the United States U-15 Boys National Team for the 2019 Concacaf U-15 Championship, where he notably scored two goals in a 2-0 quarterfinal win over Costa Rica.

“We're excited Ozzie is with us and look forward to seeing his contributions throughout the rest of the season,” remarked Pope.

Transaction: Sporting Kansas City (MLS) loans midfielder Ozzie Cisneros to Carolina Core FC (MLS NEXT Pro) for the remainder of the 2024 season.
