Carolina Core FC Adds Soccer Analyst to Technical Staff

HIGH POINT, N.C. (January 18, 2024) - Carolina Core FC today announced the hiring of Juan-Carlos Martinez as a Soccer Analyst.

“Juan-Carlos (JC) brings a wealth of experience after being part of the Houston Dynamo's Academy for seven years as well as having assisted with the Houston Dash WPSL. His roles before coming to the Core were head coach of the MLS NEXT U13 Academy team, and prior to that, he was assistant coach for the Dynamo's U20 for two years. "JC" will be the team's Soccer Analyst and Assistant Coach as an addition to the CCFC technical staff,” said CCFC Head Coach Roy Lassiter. “We welcome "JC" to the team and know he will contribute greatly to CCFC.”

Martinez joins Carolina Core FC having amassed over 13 years of experience in coaching, working in various positions and levels. Since March 2016, Martinez has worked for the Houston Dynamo and Dash organization. Most recently, Martinez worked under CCFC Head Coach Roy Lassiter as the U20 Assistant Coach and helped the team towards their first conference title and Round of 16 appearance. He’s also learned from and assisted with every age group in the academy level from the U19 and U17 teams that were previously under the now-current Dynamo 2 head coach Kenny Bundy, as well as the younger U15-U13 age groups, where he was the head coach for the U13 age group before making the move to CCFC.

In this role as Soccer Analyst, Martinez will be responsible for working directly with Head Coach Roy Lassiter to help train and develop players at the club.

Prior to his time with the Houston Dynamo Academy, Martinez was with the Houston Dash of the NWSL from 2016 to 2017, where he served as an Assistant Coach. Throughout his time with the club, Martinez led video analysis and breakdowns for individual players and team meetings. In his time, he also helped with player scouting for trades and monitoring free agents.

Martinez brings versatility to the coaching staff, having worked at the youth, collegiate, and professional levels. He has experienced the process of connecting, developing, and progressing young talent to their highest potential.

Martinez currently has his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) B National License and is a graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Fitness, and Sports.
