Carolina Core FC Fall Short to Orlando City B in Tough Road Matchup

Orlando, FL (June 7, 2026) -  Carolina Core FC delivered a strong performance on the road, but a late Orlando City B comeback handed the Foxes a narrow 3-2 defeat on Sunday night.

Carolina Core FC started brightly, controlling possession from the opening whistle and dictating the tempo early on. The Foxes were rewarded for their strong start in the 10th minute when Arnaud Tattevin found the back of the net following a brilliant assist from Antonio Pineda to give the visitors an early advantage.

The Core's high-pressure approach continued to disrupt Orlando City's rhythm throughout the first half, limiting the Lions to few meaningful opportunities while forcing mistakes in key attacking areas.

Carolina Core doubled its lead before halftime when Antonio Pineda capped off an impressive attacking sequence with a composed low finish, showcasing excellent footwork to make it 2-0.

The momentum would shift in the closing moments of the half when Jair Caiza was shown a red card, reducing the Foxes to 10 men. Orlando City B quickly capitalized, as Pedro Leão converted a penalty kick to cut the deficit to one goal and send the match into halftime with the Lions firmly back in contention.

Orlando emerged from the break with renewed energy, applying pressure to the Carolina Core backline and creating multiple chances in their attack. Goalkeeper Nick Holliday stood tall early in the second half, making a series of key saves to preserve the Foxes' lead and keep Orlando at bay.

The breakthrough eventually came in the 74th minute when Pedro Leão headed home a cross from Parker Amoo-Mensah to level the match at 2-2.

Orlando's pressure finally paid off later in the match when Matthew Belgodere fired home the eventual winner, completing the comeback and securing a 3-2 victory for Orlando City B.

The Foxes now return home to High Point to defend The Den against Crown Legacy FC on Saturday, June 13, at 8:00 p.m.
