HIGH POINT, N.C. (January 12, 2024) - Carolina Core FC, an independent club that will join MLS NEXT Pro in 2024, has signed 23 year old, Facundo Canete. The Argentina native was spotted during a Carolina Core FC tryout.

"Facundo showed very well in the defensive midfield position during tryouts. He possessed a composed touch on the ball and had great vision in recognizing the long pass. He also protects the ball well with players around him. We were very impressed with Facundo's playing ability and we're confident that he will contribute greatly to CCFC," states Roy Lassiter, Head Coach.

Facundo played in the United Soccer League 2 (USL2) with Florida Elite Soccer Academy in 2021. The midfielder recorded 321 minutes and 1 goal for the squad. The club finished third in the Southeast USL2 division. In 2022, Facundo joined National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) side, Valley United FC.

“Facundo was yet another player that impressed us at tryouts. We think that he can help us out wide or in the midfield given his decision making and how comfortable he is on the ball. There's no doubt he will be an exciting addition to the Core,” says Eddie Pope, Chief Sporting Officer.

Facundo will join Carolina Core FC in their inaugural season with MLS NEXT Pro this coming spring. Carolina Core FC will play their home matches at Truist Point in downtown High Point, North Carolina.
