STORYLINES
A Florida Rematch
Carolina Core FC’s last match against Crown Legacy FC ended with The Foxes earning two points away from home thanks to a clean sheet, followed by heroics in the penalty shootout by goalkeeper Alex Sutton. The result moves Carolina Core FC up the conference standings and puts the team within three points of a playoff spot. The next test for The Foxes in MLS NEXT Pro is a trip to Orlando City B. The two sides met at Truist Point Stadium earlier this season, CCFC securing a 1-0 victory thanks to a superb strike from Jathan Juarez. The Foxes will be eager to earn three points away from home in a stadium where they remain unbeaten (one win, one draw in two matches at Osceola Heritage Park).
Player to Watch
Jonathan Bazaes has been a key player recently after breaking into Carolina Core FC’s starting eleven and receiving back-to-back starts against Inter Miami II on July 4 and last Wednesday against Crown Legacy FC. The 22-year-old midfielder’s attacking display has shown that he is a versatile and productive player. In his first start of the MLS NEXT Pro season against Inter Miami II, Bazaes assisted Derek Cuevas to pull The Foxes level in the match. In the midfielder’s most recent game against Crown Legacy FC, he completed the most dribbles in the match (three) and created the second most chances across both sides (two). Bazaes will hope to continue his run of form in Carolina Core FC’s matchup against Orlando City B.
Orlando City B Seeking to Bounce Back
Orlando City B aims to break a four-game winless streak (two losses and two draws) to remain in playoff contention, as they currently sit in seventh place in the Eastern Conference—only two points above the non-playoff zone. Their most recent match was a 2-2 draw on the road against Crown Legacy FC. Justin Ellis was crucial in Orlando City B’s draw, scoring a brace and pushing the game into a penalty shootout, where the visitors secured an extra point. The 18-year-old forward now has eight goal contributions (five goals, three assists) in ten appearances during the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season.
