For the second time this season, Alex Moreno has claimed the MLS NEXT Pro Goal of the Matchweek award.
Moreno curled a free kick into the upper left corner just before half time, securing a 2-1 win for Timbers2 over Tacoma Defiance during Matchweek 10 action.
It was another brilliant moment from a set piece from the 19-year-old midfielder, who's been nicknamed “The Specialist” by Timbers2’s social media team.
A product of the Portland Timbers academy since 2022, Moreno signed his first professional contract in 2024.
Since then, he’s become a cornerstone of the Timbers2 midfield, starting nine out of the 10 games and playing in over 700 minutes so far this season.
Other Goal of the Week nominees included Curt Calov (MNUFC2), Yu Tsukanome (Tacoma Defiance), and Sean Karani (Ventura County FC).
Timbers2 will now put their three-game winning streak on the line when they pay a visit to St. Louis to take on CITY2 at Energizer Park on May 23.
