The race to Decision Day 2025 is heating up.

The Eastern Conference race is shaping up to be one for the ages, with New York Red Bulls II and Philadelphia Union II tied for the top spot. Both earned big wins in Matchweek 21 to keep pace with one another ahead of a head-to-head clash.

In the West, it’s a matter of who can catch St Louis CITY2. The Town FC are making the late-season push with a four-game winning streak, scoring three or more goals in each.

An up-and-down double matchweek for Philadelphia Union II.

Their nine-game unbeaten streak came to an end with a 2-1 loss at Carolina Core FC on Friday, but a 1-0 win to end FC Cincinnati 2’s eight-game unbeaten run makes up for it.

Last match: 1-0 win vs. FC Cincinnati 2
Next match: at New York Red Bulls II on Monday, August 11

St Louis CITY2 had a bye in Matchweek 21.

They return to action looking to add to a 10-game unbeaten streak.

Last match: 4-0 win vs. MNUFC2
Next match: at Whitecaps FC 2 on Wednesday, August 6

New York Red Bulls II earned a much needed bounce back win in Matchweek 21.

They are tied with Philadelphia Union II for the top of the East and go head-to-head this weekend for what both sides should view as a statement game.

Last match: 2-1 win at Crew 2
Next match: vs. Union II on Monday, August 11

Another week, another big win with honors for Chicago Fire FC II.

A 6-1 win over two-time Eastern Conference champs Columbus Crew 2 will do the trick to earn back-to-back Team of the Matchweek honors.

Fire II owns a three-game winning streak where they’ve outscored opponents 18-5, looking like a late-blooming toughest team in the East candidate.

Last match: 6-1 win vs. Columbus Crew 2
Next match: at NYCFC II on Friday, August 8

Now in control of a home playoff seed, The Town FC are absolutely rolling at the right time.

Their Matchweek 21 win makes it a six-game unbeaten streak. The work is far from done for TTFC, but they’ve set themselves up nicely as clinches start to come into play.

Last match: 4-3 win at LAFC 2
Next match: vs. Whitecaps FC 2 on Saturday August 9

Back to back 4-0 wins have helped bump Huntsville City FC into the elite of the Eastern Conference.

Still in the thick of the race, they are among the hopefuls in fighting for a hosting playoff seed.

Last match: 4-0 win at Crown Legacy FC
Next match: at Carolina Core FC on Sunday, August 10

A huge win over the defending MLS NEXT Pro Cup champs will feel great for Colorado Rapids 2.

Even better, 10 goals in their last two matches ahead of their biggest test of the season as a six-pointer against St Louis CITY2 awaits.

Sitting third in the West is a great place to be as the countdown to Decision Day looms.

Last match: 4-1 win at North Texas SC
Next match: vs. St Louis CITY2 on Sunday, August 10

Looking for their first win since May, Chattanooga FC are in a bit of a rut.

But this is the same team that opened the year dominating the power rankings with a six-game unbeaten run.

If they can reclaim that form, a home playoff seed is there for the taking. If not, a playoff appearance in general could go out the window. Every remaining game is a must-watch for CFC fans.

Last match: 2-1 loss vs. Toronto FC II
Next match: at Orlando City B on Saturday, August 9

New England Revolution II have been on the outside looking in on the power rankings the last few weeks.

A big 3-0 road win at Atlanta United 2 was balanced by a narrow 1-0 loss to Carolina Core, but a four-game win streak in July has built Revs II back up as, perhaps, a sleeper in the East.

Last match: 1-0 loss to Caroliona Core
Next match: vs. Columbus Crew 2 on Sunday, August 10

Statement needed, statement made.

Ventura County FC outlasted Tacoma Defiance in a rollercoaster match that required their best offensive output all season.

Sitting second in the West, they’re among the crowd zeroing in on a playoff clinch.

Last match: 6-4 win at Tacoma Defiance
Next match: vs. Portland Timbers2 on Saturday, August 9
