Chattanooga Football Club has been named MLS NEXT Pro Team of the Matchweek following the club's 4-0 shutout against Red Bull New York II.
The Boys in Blue effectively bounced back and kicked off the Summer of Soccer in commanding fashion on Sunday night. Tate Robertson scored his first brace of the year while Isaiah Jones tallied his first of the season and Alex Krehl joined the scoresheet for the fourth consecutive match.
"I think our mentality was a big part," said Jones in his post-match interview. "We just wanted it. You could tell the whole game we were ready. I feel like we did a good job giving them a lot of energy the whole game."
Interim Head Coach Richard Dixon said Sunday was the most complete performance his side has had so far this year.
"Tonight, we got three points, a shutout, good goals and a lot of really good chances, which is what this team is capable of," said Dixon. "I think we still haven't scratched the surface of our potential, and we're going to continue to build and explore and we're going to keep finding those things we're missing to be more complete. I think tonight was probably the most complete performance we've had so far this season."
The win sees CFC maintain its seventh place spot in the Eastern Conference and remain fourth in the Southeast Division, with a total of 22 points through 13 matches.
Chattanooga will now take a roadtrip south to face Atlanta United 2 in Athens on June 13 before traveling to face New York City FC II on June 21. CFC will be back in action at Finley Stadium on June 27, when it hosts Chicago Fire FC II. Tickets are on sale now.
