Chattanooga Football Club has been named MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 28 following the club's 4-1 rout of Atlanta United 2 on a scorching hot Sunday afternoon at Finley Stadium.
The Boys in Blue secured a home playoff spot thanks to goals from Alex Krehl, Alex McGrath, Luke Husakiwsky and Damien Barker John.
Heading into Decision Day on Sunday afternoon, the final matchweek of the regular season, CFC sits just two points behind leaders Crown Legacy FC in the Eastern Conference.
Chattanooga FC will travel to face Chicago Fire FC II on Sunday with kick-off set for 2:00 p.m. ET., while Crown Legacy travels to FC Cincinnati 2 with kick-off at the same time throughout the Eastern Conference.
Playoffs on the horizon
Regarldess of how Decision Day pans out, CFC is guaranteed to host a conference quarterfinal on Sunday, October 18Â with the kick-off time to be announced in the near future. Chattanooga FC will participate in MLS NEXT Pro's Pick-Your-Opponent, where No. 1-3 seeds in each conference host and select their opponent from the No. 5-8 seeds (with No. 8 being the winner of the Play-in Round). The No. 4 seed will host the remaining club.
