Columbus Crew 2 goalkeeper Patrick Schulte has been voted as the MLS NEXT Pro goalkeeper of the year, MLS NEXT Pro announced Friday.
Schulte joined the Crew organization in 2022 after being selected 12th overall in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft out of Saint Louis University.
Schulte posted a 10-1-4 record with 38 saves and seven shutouts in 15 appearances, helping lead Crew 2 to a 16-3-5 record in their inaugural season. Five of Schulte’s seven clean sheets came in away matches, where the Crew 2 shot-stopper came up big, helping the team attain valuable road points.
Crew 2 finished the regular season atop the Eastern Conference and were crowned regular season champions with 55 points across 24 matches.
Schulte was awarded the MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Month in August after posting two clean sheets and going four straight matches unbeaten.
Crew 2’s historic season is set to continue, as they hold the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference in the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro playoffs.
