High Point, NC (November 2, 2026) -
Charles Orbaugh’s soccer journey has taken him from San Francisco to Ontario to Croatia. For 2027, the 20-year-old defender is staying in Carolina.
Carolina Core FC today announced it has re-signed Orbaugh ahead of the MLS NEXT Pro Sprint Season. The club is keeping a defender who proved in 2026 that he can be counted on at both ends of the field.
“Charles proved to be a steady defender for the group in 2026, and we are looking forward to having him back with the squad for 2027,” said Head Coach Jake Davis. “A strong, versatile defender that is able to distribute out of the back, Charles gained valuable experience with us, and we are excited to keep him in Carolina as we build out the roster for the Sprint Season.”
Orbaugh’s work wasn’t limited to the back line. He gave the Foxes a fast start against Huntsville City FC on Aug. 8, scoring in the fifth minute of an eventual 2-0 win that earned Carolina Core all three points. Three weeks later at Chattanooga FC, he struck again, finishing a Thomas Raimbault assist in the 74th minute. That goal sparked a late push in a 5-2 road loss. Both goals came from a defender who started at the back from the club’s first match of the season onward.
Before arriving in High Point, he made 12 appearances for NK Junak Sinj in Croatia during the 2025/26 campaign. Earlier, he made his name in the Ontario Premier League. In 2024 he logged more than 1,700 first-team minutes there, earned two Team of the Week selections and ranked among the league’s top seven defenders.
“At only 20 years old, Charles has a bright future in the game, and we are pleased to continue working with him,” Davis said.
