Match Preview: CT United Set for Tri-State Derby Clash at NYCFC II

Connecticut (September 10, 2026) - CT United FC returns to action Sunday, September 13, to face NYCFC II at 2 p.m. ET in the third meeting between the two clubs this season. The Coywolves enter the matchup looking to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to Atlanta United 2 on September 9. 

With the Eastern Conference playoff race tightening, CT United currently sits in sixth place with 43 points, just one point ahead of eighth-place NYCFC II with 42 points. Sunday’s matchup gives the Coywolves an opportunity to gain ground in the playoff race and change the script against an NYCFC II side that has won both meetings between the clubs this season. 

Coywolves Recent Form 

The Coywolves have won three of their last five, establishing themselves as one of the Eastern Conference’s most in-form teams during the second half of the season. CT United will look to quickly respond to Wednesday’s setback and return to its winning ways on Sunday.

Standout Coywolves 

Several players delivered standout performances against Atlanta United 2. 

Daniel D’Ippolito made an immediate impact off the bench, scoring CT United’s lone goal in just 19 minutes. He put his only shot on target and converted the opportunity, while completing 88% of his passes. 

Lukas Kamrath provided a steady presence throughout all 90 minutes, recording a team-high 11 defensive contributions, including three blocks, four clearances and two interceptions. He also completed 14 passes into the final third and ranks fourth in MLS NEXT Pro with 1,602 total passes this season, highlighting his importance to CT United’s build-up play. 

Robbie Mora made an impact at both ends of the field, recording an assist while completing 93% of his passes. He also led CT United with six tackles and added an interception, four recoveries and a clearance, while completing seven passes into the final third.
