MLS NEXT Pro Goal of Matchday 13: Dida Armstrong

Goal of MD 13

St Louis CITY2 forward Dida Armstrong has earned the Goal of Matchday 13 honor with his impressive goal in CITY2’s 4-1 victory over Real Monarchs. The 19-year-old accumulated close to 40% of the vote in the MLS NEXT Pro Twitter poll.

Among the other nominees for Goal of Matchday 13 were Nick Firmino from Atlanta United 2 (34.6%), Kemy Amiche from Huntsville City FC (20.5%), and Stuart Hawkins from Tacoma Defiance (4.2%).

Dida Armstrong's goal occurred early in the second half. The play unfolded with a long goal kick from goalkeeper Michael Creek, controlled by Ryley Gibbs, who swiftly passed to Sergio Rivas. Rivas then set up a through pass for Armstrong, who sprinted down the left flank. The 19-year-old forward displayed exceptional pace and skill, driving the ball into the box and striking it into the upper right corner of the goal.

In addition to his own goal, Dida Armstrong played a role in St. Louis CITY2's third goal of the night by providing a low cross that allowed Wan Kuzain to score.

The victory over Real Monarchs marked the end of St. Louis CITY2's two-game losing streak, providing a much-needed boost of confidence.

Armstrong and CITY2 will now prepare to host MNUFC2 at CITYPARK on Thursday, June 22.
