After suffering a heart-wrenching loss to Orlando City B and a shootout defeat to Philadelphia Union II in the previous weeks, TFC II were determined to make a comeback at home on Matchday 7.
Their efforts paid off with a commanding 3-0 victory over FC Cincinnati 2, securing their first three points of the season and marking a significant breakthrough for the team.
Jordan Faria was the star of the show on Sunday night, scoring two goals in the first half to put TFC II in control of the game. Faria’s pair of goals gave his side a much-needed boost of confidence early in the match.
In the second half, 18-year-old forward Hugo Mbongue sealed the win for TFC II by scoring a third goal in the 81st minute. Mbongue’s powerful strike marked his third consecutive game with a goal.
This victory will undoubtedly be a morale booster for TFC II, who have struggled to earn points this season after reaching the Eastern Conference Final last year.
TFC II's Head Coach Gianni Cimini will be hoping that this win will be a turning point for the team, and that they can start climbing up the Eastern Conference table. His team will be looking to build on this success on Matchday 8 when they host New England Revolution II at York Lions Stadium on May 14th.
