RNY FC puts on attacking clinic in win over Inter Miami II

Rochester New York FC earned its second-straight win of the season Saturday afternoon, knocking off Inter Miami II 4-1 at Monroe Community College.

Two early first-half goals and two in quick succession to begin the second half gave RNY FC all three points for just the second time this season.

Winger Edward Williams opened the scoring 10 minutes into the match with a brilliant curling free-kick effort that found the back of the net. The right-footed strike went up and over the wall and past the goalkeeper's hands to give the home side the early lead.

Just 10 minutes later, RNY FC doubled their lead through midfielder Pedro Dolabella. Dolabella was fed a lovely ball by Rayo and after some tidy dribbling in the box, he fired home and into the back of the net.

The third came in the 50th from Jakob Akinyarige and the fourth just seven minutes later through Jesus Batiz.

Batiz was fed a gorgeous ball across the box by Rayo and was found wide-open on the back post.

Inter Miami II earned a consolation goal in the 60th minute through midfielder Kobi Thomas, but the deficit was too large to have any real thought of it sparking a rally.

RNY FC will host Philadelphia Union II in week nine back home at Monroe Community College.

The Story: RNY FC successfully bounces back from U.S. Open Cup exit

It’s a statement win for the only non-affiliated MLS NEXT Pro side following their crash out of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup this past week. Two early goals inside the opening twenty minutes set both the tone and pace of the match for the home side. From there on out, it was attacking dominance on their home ground.

Saturday's result was their second-straight win in league play and the first time they’ve recorded back-to-back positive results this season. After beginning their inaugural campaign 0-1-3, RNY FC is finally coming together as a group under head coach Bruno Baltazar.

The four goals scored are the most they’ve scored in a match this season, while forward Gibran Rayo recorded a gentleman’s hat trick, notching three assists over the course of the match.

All-in-all, it was the best RNY FC has looked this season and if they can continue to replicate this form as the season goes on, they’ll be in great shape.
