Carolina Core FC’s roster building ahead of its debut MLS NEXT Pro campaign continued this week in the form of two familiar players to the league.

Yekeson Subah and Andrew Pannenberg both signed with the Eastern Conference club this week, committing their futures to the expansion side. Pannenberg spent the last two seasons with Houston Dynamo 2 while Subah featured for Real Monarchs for two campaigns before joining LAFC 2 in 2023.

Subah, 19, made 16 appearances (five starts) for Monarchs in 2022, logging 553 minutes of action. The young forward improved his production this past season with LAFC 2, scoring three goals in 21 appearances (11 starts).

He previously came through the ranks at North Carolina FC, featuring for both the first team and Under-23’s.

“Subah made a great showing at the combine that really impressed the coaching staff.  He possessed good strength and technical ability on the ball as well as a high work ethic.  We feel Subah has the tools and characteristics we are looking for, especially his ability to take on players.  We welcome Yekeson to the Core and look forward to his contribution to the club,” said Head Coach Roy Lassiter.

The 25-year-old Pannenberg made 13 starts for Dynamo Dos, registering 33 saves and four clean sheets. He only conceded 16 goals over his two MLS NEXT Pro seasons in Houston.

Prior to his move to MLS NEXT Pro, Pannenberg featured in the USL Championship with Colorado Springs Switchbacks and collegiately for Wake Forest University.

"Andrew is an extremely technical goalkeeper that exhibits leadership abilities we want from that position. Not only is he sound with his shot-stopping, but he possesses the foot skills the team will need to build out of the back. We are excited to see Andrew grow and develop with Carolina Core FC," said Lassiter.

Subah and Pannenberg join Drake Hadeed, Aryeh Miller, and Ibrahim Covi as the fourth and fifth respective club signings.
