STORYLINES

Familiar Foes Clash at The Point

Carolina Core FC aims to bounce back after a close 1-0 loss on the road to Columbus Crew 2 last time out, with the hosts scoring the winning goal in the final ten minutes of the match. Now, on their return home this Friday, The Foxes face a familiar foe in Inter Miami II, with the two teams having already met twice in the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season. Carolina Core FC has plenty of reason to feel confident heading into this matchup based on their recent unbeaten streak against Miami. In CCFC’s first game of the 2025 MLSNP season, the team earned a 1-1 draw in Chase Stadium and picked up an extra point through the penalty shootout. Most recently, CCFC recorded its first-ever win against Inter Miami II, thanks to a brace from Glory Nzingo.

Player to Watch

Daniel Chica has been one of the most crucial and dependable members of Carolina Core FC’s defense this season. The 23-year-old defender has played every minute of the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season thus far. In The Core’s last game, despite a narrow 1-0 defeat to Columbus Crew 2, Chica helped limit the hosts to just two shots on goal. Playing at the center of the defense, the young defender has shown he isn’t afraid to join the attack. Chica recorded his first assist of the season in CCFC’s last home game against New York Red Bulls II, setting up Glory Nzingo with a through ball over the defense. Daniel Chica’s no-nonsense defending at the back and his productivity going forward will be crucial to help secure all three points against Inter Miami II.

Inter Miami II Seeks to Break Winless Run

Inter Miami II had a difficult month of June, finding itself on a four-game winless streak—a streak that started with a 2-1 loss against Carolina Core FC. The Fort Lauderdale-based club looks to break that run in the latest matchup between the two sides. After hosting The Foxes in Chase Stadium twice and failing to secure a win, Inter Miami II will need to find a new gear to pick up their first win since the end of May. The Herons will need a big game from forward Idoh Zeltzer-Zubida, who finds himself in fantastic form with three goals in his last three matches. The 20-year-old also leads Inter Miami II in assists (4) and key passes (21).
