Position Summary

The Chief Business Officer (CBO) is responsible for driving revenue, developing strategic partnerships, managing corporate development activities, and overseeing business operations for the Club. This position implements strategies that connect our business functions, brands, and partners by providing revenue-generating solutions, acting as a crucial link between business operations and long-term organizational goals.

Success in this role requires strategic vision, strong inspirational leadership, financial acumen, and deep industry knowledge to drive sustainable growth, identify new business opportunities, and align revenue and operational goals with the competitive objectives of the Sporting Department and Club Ownership.

Essential Functions

  • Revenue Growth & Corporate Development: Lead the creation of new revenue streams and create new initiatives that drive the Club’s growth and long-term success
  • Innovation & Business Strategy: Identify emerging commercial opportunities, anticipate market shifts, and implement proactive commercial strategies that maximize the Club’s competitive edge
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with ownership, Finance, Strategy, and Sporting Leadership to align initiatives, ensure financial discipline, and deliver high-impact results
  • Business Operations: Oversee revenue-generating functions of the club - including ticketing, partnerships, sponsorships, marketing, game-day operations and merchandise – to drive financial performance, community engagement, and game-day experience
  • Team Performance: Set clear priorities and measurable goals, guide and support the team to achieve outstanding results while fostering accountability and collaboration in a high-performance workplace
  • Accelerate Execution: Remove barriers, streamline processes, and maintain alignment across departments to drive momentum and ensure the achievement of Club commercial goals
  • Cultivate Talent: Develop team members through mentorship, growth opportunities, and clear pathways that align potential with the Club’s long-term success
  • Culture Champion: Foster a high-performing culture grounded in mutual trust and respect, empowered decision making, accountability, innovation, collaboration, and shared purpose, while maintaining a dynamic and engaging environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Sports Management, Finance, Marketing or a related field; Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in revenue generation, financial management, and strategic planning within sports, entertainment, or related industries
  • Experience in MLS, USL, NISA, NPSL where innovation and resourcefulness are essential (strongly preferred)
  • Experience as a key contributor toward the growth and maintenance of a large-scale youth sport club or organization (preferred)
  • Demonstrated success in driving organizational growth, cultivating strategic partnerships, managing key stakeholder relationships, and delivering measurable results
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate market trends, identify new opportunities,
    drive sustainable growth, and align business and competitive strategies
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with a proven ability to
    inspire and align high-performance teams, and foster a culture of accountability and innovation
  • Highly skilled in problem-solving, decision-making, and executing complex initiatives in a fastpaced environment
  • Capacity to engage diverse audiences and represent the Club with professionalism, authenticity,
    energy, and impact
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and skill development

Licensing & Certifications

  • Possess and maintain a current and valid driver's license

Additional Requirements

  • Must have or be willing to complete SafeSport Training
  • Maintain legally required employment eligibility
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred but not required

Physical Requirements

Medium - lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds frequently. Bending, stretching, and reaching requires. Some sitting and climbing, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended time.

Physical Environment: This position is routinely exposed to external elements which include heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid and extreme weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Department: Executive

Work Schedule: Monday – Sunday, Hours will vary due to work assignment. Must be able to work flexible hours which will include extended days, nights, weekends & holidays.
