Chattanooga, TN (August 29, 2026) - Carolina Core FC stayed within striking distance through the opening half before Chattanooga FC created separation after the break, as the Foxes fell 5-2 on the road.
Carolina Core FC and Chattanooga spent the opening minutes battling for possession as both sides looked to settle into the match and establish an attacking rhythm. Chattanooga found the breakthrough in the 11th minute when Alexander Krehl finished a chance created by Tate Robertson to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
Carolina Core responded by applying more pressure in the attacking third and generated several opportunities as the Foxes searched for an equalizer.
Chattanooga continued to create chances on the other end, but Carolina Core's backline remained organized under pressure. Goalkeeper Nolan Anderson also came up with several key interventions to keep the Foxes within one heading into halftime.
The Core came out of the break looking to build on its first-half pressure, but Chattanooga doubled its advantage when Krehl found the back of the net for the second time to make it 2-0.
The hosts extended their lead when Isaiah Jones connected on a volley from inside the penalty area before Krehl struck again to complete his hat trick and make it 4-0.
Anderson continued to be tested in goal and made the initial save on another Chattanooga opportunity, but Robertson converted the rebound to extend the hosts' advantage to 5-0.
Carolina Core continued to compete and found its first breakthrough in the 74th minute. Thomas Raimbault provided the assist for Charles Orbaugh, who found the back of the net to cut into Chattanooga's lead.
The Foxes added another late as David Diaz scored during a late attacking surge, giving Carolina Core its second goal of the match.
CCFC continued to look for opportunities over the closing minutes but was unable to further cut into Chattanooga's advantage before the final whistle.
Carolina Core FC returns to action Friday, September 4, as the Foxes return to Truist Point Stadium to take on New England Revolution II. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.
