MLS NEXT Pro Honors: Matchweek 4

MW4 Awards

Another week, another cast of first-timers in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro Matchweek honors.

San Jose Earthquakes II grab their first Team of the Matchweek selection on the back of a dominant win over the defending Western Conference champs.

Toronto FC II winger Fletcher Bank had a hand in all of the scoring as the Young Reds topped NYCFC II 5-0 to kick off the Matchweek, earning his first-ever Player of the Matchweek selection.

In the Academy scene, Philadelphia Union II got a gift off the bench when midfielder Lennon Harrington scored the goal to ensure points in both regulation and a chaotic shootout, earning this week's MLS NEXT Rising Star of the Matchweek.

There is a lot to like about Quakes II's dominant 4-1 win at Colorado Rapids 2.

Highly-touted United States youth prospect Kaedren Spivey (16) opened his professional account with a goal in the 58th minute to put the game out of reach.  Quakes II also got goals from Zach Bohane and Shane de Flores, as well as forcing Rapids 2 into an own goal, making for a strong performance where they outshot Rapids 24-11 and stood tall to seven shots on target.

Never too early to think about the playoff line, Saturday's win moves Quakes II into fourth in the West, finishing the opening month of the season with a 2W-1L-1T record.

Do we have a breakout performance?

Safe to say TFC II wouldn't want to picture their 5-0 win at NYCFC II without the efforts of 22-year-old winger Fletcher Bank.

Getting in on all five goals (2g/3a), Bank was the undeniable Player of the Matchweek across a slate of strong performances all around the league.

The Bakersfield, CA native signed with TFC II ahead of the 2026 season, but was originally drafted by the Reds in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft. He cut his teeth at Stanford University in the interim and was a regular recipient of Pac-12 honors for both his athletic and academic achievements.

Getting on the scoresheet with an assist in TFC II's road trip to Columbus Crew 2, Bank has a streak to maintain over the next few weeks.

A tale as old as the league itself: a Philadelphia Union Academy player showing out in MLS NEXT Pro.

In Matchweek 4, Lennon Harrington set the stage for a rollercoaster finish as Union II tied defending champions Red Bull New York II 1-1, and helped get the shootout extra point.

In the 57th minute, 17-year-old Harrington entered a scoreless deadlock in which Union II were struggling to create chances and came up clutch in their first shot of the match with an open-play header to take the lead.

RBNY II battled back and forced a shootout that turned into a 'keeper duel. But Harrington wasn't fazed and converted with his opportunity from the spot, which proved to be vital in Union II's two-point road trip.
