(High Point, NC - JUNE 10, 2026) – Carolina Core FC today announced the signing of midfielder Ryan Baer, adding valuable experience and depth to the squad as the club enters the second half of the MLS NEXT Pro season.
Baer joins Carolina Core FC from Richmond Kickers and arrives with a strong collegiate and professional background. Known for his work rate, versatility, and box-to-box style of play, the 24-year-old midfielder adds another dynamic option to the Foxes' midfield.
Prior to joining Carolina Core FC, Baer spent time with Tacoma Defiance and the Richmond Kickers, where he gained valuable professional experience. During his time in USL League One with Richmond, he made 11 appearances, logging 210 minutes while recording 12 tackles, four interceptions, and two blocked shots.
Baer was selected 28th overall by Seattle Sounders FC in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft following a standout collegiate career at West Virginia University. Over five seasons with the Mountaineers, he appeared in a school-record 92 matches, making 87 starts and recording seven assists.
In 2024, Baer appeared in 20 of West Virginia's 22 matches, making 19 starts and helping lead the program to a Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship. His performances earned him All-Sun Belt First Team and All-Southeast Region First Team honors.
A native of Huntersville, North Carolina, Baer developed through the Charlotte Independence system. He competed for Charlotte Independence II in USL League Two before signing a USL Academy contract with the Charlotte Independence first team in 2019, beginning his pathway to the professional ranks.
The addition of Baer further strengthens Carolina Core FC's midfield group as the club continues its push through the remainder of the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season.
