Chattanooga FC returns to Finley Stadium to host Southeast Division rivals Huntsville City FC on Saturday, May 2 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
Chattanooga FC will welcome Huntsville City FC to Finley Stadium on Saturday night for its first home match in 17 days to kick off the month of May.
Last time out on April 18, CFC faced Crown Legacy FC on the road at the end of a busy matchweek, falling short 1-0 with just ten men on the pitch after Anthony Sorenson was sent off upon receiving a second yellow card.
Chattanooga now sits eighth in the Eastern Conference and fourth in the Southeast Division standings behind a 3-3-1 (10 pts.) record going into Saturday's test against Huntsville. The two most recently met on March 21 in the Rocket City, which saw Chattanooga save a point after drawing 2-2 and falling 4-2 in the shootout. Alex Krehl scored his third of the season while Tate Robertson joined the scoresheet for the second time this year.
Saturday night will be the lone home match slated against Huntsville this season, and Chattanooga will catch HCFC on the road one last time on September 9 to close out the regular season series.
The Scenic City holds the upper hand in the historical head-to-head with a 4W-2L-2D (1SOW-1SOL) record, with all eight of the previous matches being close contests.
Coach's corner
Interim Head Coach Richard Dixon previewed Saturday's second matchup against Huntsville City.
"Huntsville is always a tough team to play," said Dixon. "They're a team that's right down the road, they have a good fan base and so do we. They have quality players, so whenever we play them it's always a good match. I think they're the team that has given us the hardest time in the league so far this year. Last year, we did well to come out with most of the points when we played them.
"For us, again, every game that we play is important and our next game is our most important game. Huntsville is one we know we have to prepare for when it's time to play them. They want to dominate possession and they're very aggressive with pressing the ball when they're high up the pitch, so it'll be a good challenge for us."
Know the opponent
Huntsville City FC (2W-2L-2D, 1SOW- 1SOL) has totaled nine points through six matches so far this season and currently sits 11th in the Eastern Conference and sixth in the Southeast Division.
Coming into Saturday off of a similar break, Huntsville most recently took home a 4-2 victory over Inter Miami CF II on April 18 that saw forwards Light Eke and Xavier Aguilar score their first goals of the season. Maxiumus Ekk scored his third of the season while defender Jordan Knight made it two on the year.
