MLS NEXT Pro continues to roll into the summer months with several teams beginning to hit their stride at the perfect time.
Austin FC II remain the hottest team in the league, adding another win while continuing their climb up the rankings, and Houston Dynamo 2 kept their unbeaten run alive out West.
Meanwhile, in the Eastern Conference, defending champions New York Red Bulls II slide down the rankings after suffering a second straight defeat.

The good times kept rolling for Houston Dynamo 2 with a 3-0 road win over Timbers2 this past weekend.
The result marked Houston’s ninth victory of the season and their sixth clean sheet of the year as Dynamo Dos continue to dominate out West.
Austin Brummett led the way for Houston with a brace, bringing his team-leading season total to seven goals.
Houston will now take Matchweek 13 off before returning to the road on June 6 to face off against Ventura County FC.

Crown Legacy FC could not take full advantage after going up a man against New England Revolution II, settling for one point following a 4-3 shootout loss over the weekend.
Nathan Richmond continued to set up his teammates for goals, delivering his ninth assist of the year on the game-tying second goal.
Even with the missed opportunity, CLFC remains atop the Eastern Conference with 27 points and are still unbeaten at home through six matches.

The hottest team in MLS NEXT Pro stayed red hot, earning a fifth consecutive victory and capping off a perfect May with a 3-0 win over Sporting KC II.
Jorge Alastuey notched another assist, giving him four goal contributions in his last three matches.
In goal, Erik Lauta came up big with five saves to secure his fourth clean sheet in eight appearances.
Austin FC II is making a strong case for the Team of the Month award for May and will now take a week off before returning on June 7 against LAFC2.

St Louis CITY2 are still searching for their first regulation win of May after picking up just one point on the road in a shootout loss to LAFC2 this week.
David Critchley’s side has not scored more than two goals in a match since April after doing so in every single game during the first two months of the season.
CITY2 will now look to close out May on a positive note when they host North Texas SC on May 30.

Red Bull NY II fell 3-1 to expansion side Connecticut United over the weekend, marking the first time since September 2024 that the defending champions have suffered consecutive losses.
Red Bull II controlled more than 70 percent of the possession but could not break down a resilient CT United defense that held strong.
Now, Red Bull II will look to get back on track against a Carolina Core FC side coming off major changes over the weekend.

New England Revolution II came close to knocking off Eastern Conference leaders Crown Legacy FC, but ultimately earned two points after a shootout win.
Myles Morgan scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season during the game, while Carlos Zambrano seems to have settled in nicely with his new team, providing an assist.
Pablo Moreira’s side has put together an unbeaten month of May, which has helped them climb into third place in the Eastern Conference.
The Revs will now enjoy a week off before returning in June to face FC Cincinnati 2 on the road.

After last week’s historic attacking display, Atlanta United 2 could not recreate their scoring magic against a Philadelphia Union II side that found a late winner to take all three points.
Arif Kovac struck early in the fifth minute, but ATL UTD 2 could not make the most of their chances the rest of the way.
Union II responded with two second-half goals to secure the comeback victory and deny Atlanta a chance to break into the top four in the Eastern Conference.

An 89th-minute goal from Edouard Nys was all that stood between Earthquakes II and a full three points on the road against North Texas SC this past weekend, with Quakes II winning the extra points in a shootout effort.
Quakes II goalkeeper Nate Crockford came up big in the shootout to help secure the club’s first shootout victory of the season.
16-year-old Kaedren Spivey continued his rise this season, knocking in a Goal of the Matchweek contender in the first half.

A 3-0 loss at home might raise some eyebrows, but the final scoreline did not fully reflect how competitive Timbers2 were in the match against the top team in the league.
Two of Houston’s goals came off deflections, and the Timbers2 offense repeatedly tested Pedro Cruz throughout the match.
Portland finished with 26 shots and 44 touches in the box, showing they never stopped pushing forward, but Houston’s defense once again proved why it is considered the best in MLS NEXT Pro.
Timbers2 will close out the month at home against a resurging Tacoma Defiance side coming off back-to-back wins.

Los Angeles FC 2 are riding a four-game unbeaten streak to close out May.
Theoir latest, a chaotic 1-1 tie with CITY2 showcased how valueable 17-year-old Japan international Goalkeeper Ethan Scally is between the pipes. His seven saves in regulation plus shootout stop made for plenty to update his sizzle reel with.
