Match Recap: CT United Falls 4-1 to Atlanta United 2 on the Road

Marietta, Georgia (September 8, 2026) — CT United FC fell 4-1 to Atlanta United 2 on Tuesday afternoon at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground in MLS NEXT Pro regular-season play. Daniel D’Ippolito scored for the Coywolves in the second half, but CT United was forced to play the final 36 minutes with 10 men following a red card to Barnabás Tanyi.

Atlanta opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. Mohamed Cisset and Andrew Jardines combined to set up Daniel Chica, who headed the ball from the center of the box into the top-left corner to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.

CT United looked for an equalizer before the break. Tanyi had an attempt blocked by Cisset in the 31st minute, while Robbie Mora saw a header blocked in the 37th. The Coywolves also earned three first-half corner kicks but entered halftime trailing 1-0.

The match shifted early in the second half. Andre Applewhaite was shown a yellow card in the 53rd minute before Tanyi received a red card in the 54th, reducing CT United to 10 men.

Atlanta doubled its advantage in the 66th minute when Michael Boamah was credited with an own goal. Despite playing a man down, the Coywolves pulled one back in the 79th minute. Robbie Mora set up D’Ippolito in the center of the box, and the substitute finished with his right foot into the bottom-left corner to cut Atlanta’s lead to 2-1.

Atlanta restored its two-goal advantage six minutes later. Enzo Dovlo and Chica combined to find Cameron Dunbar, who finished from the center of the box in the 85th minute to make it 3-1.

The hosts added a fourth in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time when Lukas Kamrath was credited with an own goal. CT United nearly answered moments later, but Paixão struck the crossbar in the sixth minute of stoppage time before the final whistle confirmed the 4-1 result.
